Policy Brief
Youth Green Skills: Ensuring that Young People are Educated and Skilled Today for a Sustainable Future
Abstract
The recent climate and environmental challenges, particularly visible in the Mediterranean region, invite us to re-think the economic transformation and the growth of our society in an inclusive manner, taking into account the human dimensión and capacities for sustainable development. In this context, future needs should be addressed through specific reconsideration of the way we conduct our activities and how we shape education, training and employment. Young people will play a critical role in the transition towards more sustainable models and societies but, in order to unleash their potential, they need support.
This Policy Brief offers recommendations to key stakeholders and institutions on how to support youths on the paths towards their green skills development in the Mediterranean region. It calls for research, more mechanisms to engage young people via training and education and stronger cooperation at the regional level.
