Abstract
On 12 November, PISM in cooperation with the IEMed organised a workshop “Cooperation with Religious Institutions as a European Policy Tool”. The event was held in the framework of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project, co-funded by the European Commission.
The workshop brought together 20 experts on religious affairs, migration and European as well as Middle East policy from Europe and the Middle East. Experts discussed “points of tangency” between religious institutions and EU member states, the role of German Muslim religious institutions in migration and integration policies, the opportunities arising from an increased cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Vatican, as well as the popularity and outreach of religious institutions in Maghreb states.
The present report is a summary of main points raised in workshop discussions.
