Yemeni Government and Southern Transnational Council reach initial agreement
On 25 October the delegations of the Yemeni government and the Southern Transnational Council (STC) met in Saudi Arabia and found an agreement, according to which the Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi will nominate a new government with 24 ministers of both factions. In addition, the agreement includes the return of the Hadi’s government in the southern city of Aden. The UAE-backed STC took the control of Aden in August, forcing the Saudi-backed governmental forces to leave the city. On 8 October Abu Dhabi withdrew part of its forces from the city. Both parties declared that this renewed coalition should fight against the Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who currently control the northern part of the country including the capital Sanaa. They committed to sign the agreement within a few days after the encounter.
