Yemeni Government accuses Houthi movement of abandoning Stockholm agreement
On 20 March Yemeni government’s spokesman, Rajeh Badi, declared that the government considers the last declarations of Houthi movement as a clear step aside from the agreement signed in Stockholm on 13 December 2018. The spokesman, on the side-lines of a meeting with the Russian Ambassador in Aden, stated that “Houthis officially announced their abandonment of the Stockholm Deal by receiving military reinforcements and launching wars on different areas”. The Russian diplomat confirmed Russia’s support to Aden’s Government announcing the intention to open a consulate in the temporary capital of Yemen. Rajeh badi’s announcement comes after a statement by Houthi representatives that excluded a “withdraw based on our enemy’s condition”. In the Stockholm agreement the two parts stipulated a ceasefire in the port city of Hodeidah and the redeployment of forces there and in other areas.
