US Senior Advisor Kushner visits Morocco, Jordan and Israel
On 28-29 May, Jared Kushner, US President’s senior advisor visited Morocco and Jordan to rally support for the Peace Plan between Israel and Palestine. The visits came ahead of the launch of the “Peace to Prosperity” economic conference in Manama, Bahrain, scheduled for 25-26 June. Kushner was accompanied by Mideast negotiator Jason Greenblatt and US representative for Iran, Brian Hook. On 30 May, Kushner landed in Israel where he met with PM Netanyahu to discuss the peace plan. The political aspects of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict were not covered and instead, the discussion focused on increasing investment from Washington’s regional allies in the Palestinian territories. The Palestinian Authority has already declared its rejection and non-participation to the Manama Conference and PA PM Shtayyeh declared that “any solution to the conflict in Palestine must be political… and based on ending the occupation.”
