US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo ends his Middle East tour
During his Middle East tour, Mike Pompeo visited Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Oman. During his speech at Cairo University he blamed Obama’s foreign policy for having underestimated “the tenacity ad viciousness of radical Islam” and for having left Iran expand its influence in the region. In Qatar, he called on Arab Gulf States to end divisions and to work united against Iran’s threat. During his stop in Riyadh, he expressed the hope that investigations into Khashoggi’s murder would progress and made a plea for de- escalation initiatives in Yemen. During his tour Pompeo also announced a conference about security in the Middle East that will take place in Poland on 13 and 14 February.
