The EU opens a new delegation in Kuwait
On 14 July, HR/VP Federica Mogherini and the Deputy PM of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al Hamad Al Sabah attended the opening ceremony of the new EU delegation in Kuwait city. During the ceremony Mogherini stated that the EU and Kuwait are working “on the same side of history […] the side of peace and mediation”. She added that this event sends a clear message to all the region, that “the European Union is increasing its presence and its engagement in the Middle East and the Gulf”. The new delegation, that will be also responsible for Qatar, is the 3rd EU’s diplomatic representation in the Gulf (the other two are Saudi Arabia and UAE) and brings the number of EU delegations worldwide to 142.
