The EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management meets Jordan FM in Amman
On 9 September, the EU Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides met the Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi to discuss about cooperation between Jordan and the EU. Commissioner Stylianides reiterated the EU’s gratitude to Jordan for its efforts in hosting Syrian refugees and ensured that the EU considers Jordan a main partner in the region and will continue supporting the Kingdom. On the Jordanian side, FM Safadi expressed his appreciation for the strong partnership between Jordan and the EU, and asked the international community to continue honouring its commitment towards the Syrian refugees. In the same day, Stylianides attended the Summit “Meeting our Promises on Refugee Education” in Amman, where he highlighted that the EU considers education as a basic humanitarian need, “as vital as food, water, shelter and healthcare”.
