The EU and Egypt launched a new round of energy dialogue
On 19 July, the EU ambassador in Egypt met with representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and the Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy in order to launch a new round of the energy dialogue between the EU and Egypt. In April 2018 the two parts signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and the new round of dialogue came to speed up the implementation of the MoU. One of the issue at the centre of the dialogue is the attempts to develop a bunkering business in Egypt in line with the country’s oil and gas hub strategy. On 14 July the Egyptian Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade confirmed that cooperation with the EU to support investment “began with the opening of 8 logistic areas with all services and goods”. The Ministry also stressed that it is necessary to support small and micro enterprises of the Country.
