The EU and Egypt hold the 10th EU-Egypt Economic Dialogue
The European Union and the Ministry of Finance of Egypt concluded the 10th EU-Egypt Economic Dialogue that took place between the 17 and 18 September. The Dialogue was chaired by Ahmed Kachouk, the Egyptian Vice Minister of Finance for Fiscal Policies, and Elena Flores, Director for international economic and financial relations and global governance in the Directorate General for Economic and Financial Affairs (ECFIN) of the European Commission. The officials discussed topics such as the macroeconomic situation and economic reform efforts that are being implemented, including financial and monetary sector and investment climate. They also addressed ways to promote fair competition in the markets, reform State-owned companies and mechanisms to achieve social justice, among others. In the margins of this dialogue, the European Commission and Egypt signed an Implementing Arrangement for mutual assistance that sets out the conditions for the participation of Egypt in the Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area (PRIMA).
