The 5th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum takes place in Moscow
On 16 April the FMs of 14 Arab states and Russia met for the 5th Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum in Moscow. During the forum, the delegations discussed about several issues related to the actual situation of the region. The parties stressed the importance of diplomacy in order to ease tensions in the Middle East and underlined the importance to avoid external interferences in domestic affairs of the countries. During a press conference after the meeting, Russian FM Lavrov expressed the importance of normalizing ties between Iran and Gulf states and confirmed that participant countries had reiterated their support to a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. Other topics on the agenda were the necessity to find a diplomatic solution in Libya and to follow the UN resolutions in the occupied territories of the region. During the forum, a three-year Action Plan in order to implement goals and objectives for the period 2019-2121 was also approved. The Russian-Arab Cooperation Forum was created in 2009 with a memorandum between Russia and the Arab League.
