Strong floods worsen humanitarian conditions for refugees
This week’s weather conditions have worsened the situation of refugees in Lebanon and Turkey. Strong floods have caused the death of at least 6 refugees, and massive rains have swamped refugee camps, hindering phytosanitary and medical conditions in camps and deteriorating the already precarious humanitarian conditions, emphasized by UNHCR budget shortage after the US withdrawal. Turkish Anadolu Agency reported that the 6 Syrian refugees died after being swept away by flood water near the Turkish border town of Hatay when they were trying to cross into Turkey. Many damages have also been caused in the Deir Ballut camp in Aleppo and in Kafr Dariyan, in the Northwest of Idlib.
