Spain approves an extra 32 million aid to Morocco for curbing irregular migration
On 23 August, Spanish acting government approved a €32.2 million aid to support Moroccan efforts to stop irregular migration. In the same week, 150 migrants tried to cross the border fence in Ceuta and 200 migrants were rescued by the Spanish coast guard. This extra aid is part of an EU fund for implementing cooperation between international polices. On 5 July, the Spanish government approved a first tranche of €26 million. Spanish strategy to stop migrants’ arrivals consists in improving the cooperation with third countries in order to better fight smuggling networks.
