Mohammed Bin Salman tours Arab countries
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman began a tour of Arab countries on Thursday 22 November. MBS, who reportedly initiated this tour of “brotherly” Arab countries upon his father’s request, is eager to show that he is not isolated in the region six weeks after the controversial killing of the journalist. The United Arab Emirates was MBS’s first stop on Thursday. As Sheikh Mohamed welcomed the Prince to his country, he tweeted: “we’re proud of our deep-rooted ties”. Later on Sunday 25 November, he arrived in Bahrain, where State TV said that MBS and King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, would discuss the “deep-rooted fraternal and historical relations binding the two brotherly countries and peoples, in addition to [the] latest regional, Arab and international developments”. MBS is expected to arrive in Tunisia on Tuesday 27, but Tunisian protesters are pressuring the government to cancel his visit. According to the Saudi-owned Al Arabiya television, MBS plans to attend the Group of 20 summit in Argentina later this month, where Turkish president Erdogan will be present and where President Donald Trump said he will meet Prince Mohammed.
