Libya, President Al-Serraj, visited his counterpart in Malta
On 9 January the PM of the Government of National Acord of Libya, Al Serraj, and the PM of Malta, Muscat, met in Valletta to exchange on a number of issues including the challenges of illegal migration in the Mediterranean. It was the first meeting between the two leaders after the international conference about Libya that took place in Palermo in November. The goal of the meeting was to explore cooperation avenues between the two states to improve the fight against illegal migration. Muscat stated that a common action is needed to fight this phenomenon in all its dimensions. He also expressed the necessity to “allow the Libyan coast guard to do its job”.
