Libya announces the release of 14 kidnapped Tunisian workers
On 17 February, Libyan authorities announced the release of the 14 Tunisian workers kidnapped on 14 February in the western city of Zawiya. The 14 workers were kidnapped by a Libyan armed group in their way to an oil refinery after that a Libyan citizen was imprisoned in Tunisia. The Libyan militia asked the Tunisian government for his liberation. Libyan authorities noted that the hostages were in good health. The security directorate of Zawiya declared that “Communications have been made with stakeholders to ensure the safe return of the freed Tunisians to their country”. Neither Tunisian nor Libyan authorities specified if the Libyan citizen imprisoned was actually released.
