King Abdullah II meets with Vladimir Putin in Sochi to discuss regional developments
King Abdullah II met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi to discuss about the situation in Syria and in Palestine. Abdullah II praised the role of Russia in Syria and its importance for progressing towards a resolution. They also discussed about the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and the role that Moscow could play in this regard. Putin recognized the need of taking Jordan’s interest regarding the regional situation into account. Bilateral cooperation was also on the agenda, in particular regarding economy and defence. The Jordan Times reports that both leaders agreed to increase trade flows and to boost cooperation in areas such as agriculture, student exchange or tourism.
