JCPOA meeting welcomes more cooperation with Iran
On 6 March, the meeting of the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) took place in Vienna. The Joint Commission was chaired, on behalf of EU HR/VP Federica Mogherini, by EEAS Secretary General Helga Schmid and, was attended by the E3+2 (China, France, Germany, Russia, United Kingdom) and Iran at the level of Political Directors/ Deputy Foreign Ministers. Participants reiterated their commitment to the full implementation of the JCPOA in all its parts and welcomed and acknowledged Iran’s efforts in implementing its nuclear-related commitments, which was also confirmed by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Participants showed determination when mentioning the support for practical solutions concerning sanctions lifting and welcomed INSTEX (Instrument for Supporting Trade Exchanges), as being conducive to effective financial channels. Through this initiative, France, Germany and the UK are determined to facilitate and enable legitimate trade with Iran while being consistent with international and European laws and regulations. The participants also discussed actions in support of economic and sectoral relations between them.
