Israeli airstrikes killed several civilians in the regions of Homs and Damascus
On 30 June, Israel fired several missiles over Iranian and pro-regime military positions in the Syrian provinces of Homs and Damascus. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights and the national press agency SANA, the Israeli attacks killed at least five civilians and several pro regime fighters. “Our air defenses intercepted hostile missiles fired by Israeli warplanes from the Lebanese airspace towards some of our military positions in Homs and the surroundings of Damascus”, a military source declared to SANA. Since the beginning of the civil war, Israel has carried out hundreds of air strikes in Syria targeting military objectives related to the regime, Iran and Hezbollah. On 1 July, Cyprus authorities announced that an errant missile clashed on the countryside of Nicosia “by accident” due to the reported clashes between Israel and Syria.
