Iraqi PM Abdul Mahdi meets Saudi King Salman on first time visit
Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi made his first visit to Saudi Arabia since taking office six months ago. Iraqi PM said he would maintain strong ties with Iran, the US, and regional neighbors. The primary focus of the visit was trade between the two largest oil producers. They signed 13 new agreements in areas such as trade, energy, and political cooperation. In a show of confidence, Riyadh reopened a consulate in Baghdad which had been closed for 30 years. King Salman also announced he would give Iraq $1 billion to build sports facilities.
