Iranian delegations in Moscow and Paris to discuss the future of the JCPOA
On 2 September, Russian and Iranian foreign ministers held a meeting to discuss issues such as trade and economic cooperation, the creation of the Syrian Constitution Committee, and the current situation in Afghanistan, although the main issue on the table was the future of the Iranian nuclear deal. At the same time, another delegation led by the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi was in Paris to discuss French proposals aimed at preserving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. It was reported that France offered Iran a $15bn credit line, which covers roughly half of the country’s annual oil sales, in exchange for its observance of the 2015 nuclear agreement.
