Hungarian, Czech and Slovak leaders meet with Israel’s PM
After the Visegrad Summit scheduled in Jerusalem was cancelled because of the diplomatic crisis between Israel and Poland, Netanyahu met bilaterally with his counterparts of Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia in Jerusalem. Following these meetings handled on 19 February, Netanyahu expressed his satisfaction for the growing relations with Budapest, Prague and Bratislava and highlighted that these 3 countries have taken steps to elevate their diplomatic presence in Jerusalem. In fact, Hungarian PM Victor Orban announced that his government “decided to open a trade representation here – in Jerusalem – with diplomatic status”. Czech and Slovak leaders also announced that their countries would open cultural centres in Jerusalem. The three central European leaders hoped that Israel and Poland could solve the crisis and Slovakian PM Peter Pellegrini announced that another “Visegrad plus Israel” summit will be scheduled in Slovakia during the second half of 2019.
