Hundreds of Syrian refugees from Lebanon return home
Amid joint efforts from the Syrian Government in cooperation with the Lebanese counterpart, hundreds of Syrian refugees are taken back to Syria from Lebanon. Villages and towns in the northern countryside of Homs and in the countryside of Aleppo, Hama, Deir Ezzor and Damascus were reached by the 22 buses filled with displaced Syrians. Teams of Homs Health Directorate provided health services through the al-Dabbousyia crossing in Homs by giving vaccines to the refugees. The new minister in charge of Lebanon’s millions of refugees, Saleh Gharib, made the return to their homeland his first priority. The government estimated that the number of Syrians in Lebanon reached 1.5 million. Russia allegedly drafted a strategy to facilitate the return of 890.000 Syrians. The process of return was also supervised by representatives of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
