HR/VP Federica Mogherini, met on Tuesday in Brussels with the President of the Presidential Council of Libya H.E. Fayez Mustafa al-Sarraj. They specifically exchanged on the next steps to advance the political track allowing the electoral process to be concluded by the spring 2019. In the EEAS press release of the meeting, it is gathered that the EU will continue to support Libya to reach the constitutional, legal and security conditions to carry out the elections. It is also mentioned that the only solution to the Libyan crisis is political and owned by all the Libyans. Mogherini and al-Sarraj also raised the common challenge of migration, and the need to step up the ongoing work in this area, including through the close cooperation with the United Nations and the African Union.
