On 23 January, German Economy Minister Peter Altmaier announced that Germany will export 4 RAM naval missile systems (a system developed by Germany and the US) to Qatar. This decision came after Germany announced that it would interrupt the export of weapons to Saudi Arabia. In the past, this RAM system was already sold by Germany to Egypt, UAE and Turkey. In Germany, some parties of the opposition blamed this decision and expressed their concerns about the security and human implications. Last year Doha announced a €100 billion investment in German Economy.
