French and Qatari Foreign Ministers meet in Doha for strategic dialogue agreement
On February 11, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani welcomed French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian in Doha. They signed a strategic dialogue agreement in political, economic, investment, defence, agricultural, educational and terror combat domains. The Gulf crisis and means to solve it were also discussed during the meeting. The French FM expressed that dialogue would serve as a way to find a solution to the crisis. Another topic was “to solve the Libyan and Syrian problems” through “the dialogue between Qatar and France” according to the French FM. Le Drian conveyed to the Amir the congratulations of the French president Macron on Qatar´s national football team winning the 2019 Asian Cup and said that France “will assist Qatar in the organization of World Cup 2022” as they did for the Asian Cup in 2006. The next French official visit to Qatar is scheduled for March 27 and this time by the French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.
