France and Algeria strengthen their economic ties during the 4th French-Algerian Joint Economic Committee
French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian and Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire led a French delegation of entrepreneurs and high level French stakeholders on the occasion of the 4th session of the French-Algerian Joint Economic Committee, held in Algiers. The delegation held talks with Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel and Algerian Minister of Industry and Mines Youcef Youfsi. During this meeting, three economic cooperation agreements were signed, including one confirming the building of a vehicle assembly plant by French automotive group Peugeot-Citroën in the Wilaya of Oran. This plant is due to produce 75,000 vehicles per year by 2022. Two other agreements were signed in the energy and agriculture sectors. In the margins of the meeting, it was announced that French President will make an official visit to Algeria in December and that an Algerian-French Intergovernmental High Level Committee meeting will be held in Paris in the same month.
