EU to allocate additional € 5 million to eliminate violence against women
On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, HR/VP Federica Mogherini announced in Brussels, at the occasion of the Development Ministers Meeting, EU’s decision to allocate additional € 5 Million to support its last year EU launched Spotlight Initiative, from which € 500 million were allocated to eliminate violence against women and girls in partnership with the UN. Mogherini, who was at the moment with Nobel Peace Prize laureates Nadie Murad Basee and Denis Mukwege, stated: “I think it is particularly relevant for us to send a strong message together, and I thought this was the best way to celebrate that day, in a way that is not only aiming at political declarations but at having a concrete work on the ground.”
