Egypt, Jordan and Iraq held a tripartite Summit in Cairo
On 24 March, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the King of Jordan Abdullah II and the Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi met in Cairo in a tripartite summit. The final statement read that “The leaders valued the deep historical relations between their countries, stressing the importance of working to enhance the level of coordination between the three countries”. Several issues were on the agenda of the meeting including the regional situation. The three heads of state stressed their renewed commitment to a Palestinian State with Jerusalem East as its capital. They also discussed the crisis in Libya, Syria and Yemen, stressing the importance of the unity within Arab countries. The Arab League Summit scheduled on 31 March in Tunis has been mentioned as an opportunity to achieve unity among all “Arab brothers”. Amman, Cairo and Bagdad underlined the importance of the fight against terrorism in all its aspects including its financing and its ideological propaganda in the media. They finally agreed on a series of economic cooperation steps and decided to set up a working group to follow up the results of the meeting.
