Attack in Tunisia: a suicide bomber targets 15 policemen
According to the Tunisian Interior Ministry, at least 20 people have been wounded after a 30-year-old woman blew herself up in front of the municipal theatre, near the busy shopping Habib Bourguiba Avenue in Tunis, with a hand-made grenade. Interior ministry spokesperson, Sofiene Zaag, said that 15 policemen and 5 civilian were wounded. The perpetrator of the attack died immediately, and the action was deliberate as the author allegedly approached “a group of police officers who were stationed near the municipal theatre”, but for the moment, there is no official version and no immediate claim of responsibility. Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi condemned the attack and stated: “It’s a tragedy […] We thought we had eradicated terrorism but it is still in the heart of capital”.
