Air strike in Yemen kills 7 including 4 children
In the morning of Tuesday 26 March, a missile struck a petrol station near the entrance to Kitaf hospital, about 100km from the city of Saada, in a rural area of northwest Yemen. Seven people including four children were killed at the hospital funded and run by the NGO Save the Children. Further eight people were wounded in the attack. Save the Children has condemned all warring parties for their actions, in particular highlighting the effects on hospitals. President and CEO of the NGO, Carolyn Miles, stressed that “Attacks like these are a breach of international law… But time after time, we see a complete disregard by all warring parties in Yemen for the basic rules of war.” The NGO is calling for full diplomatic pressure to be applied to all parties in the conflict to resolve it through consultation and negotiation, and for those who commit violations of international law to be held accountable.
