A migrant rescue boat docks in Palma, Spain, after weeks looking for harbour
The ship “Professor Albrecht Penck”, of the organization Sea Eye, has docked in Palma after receiving authorization on 21 January. On 29 December the ship set sail from Algeciras to rescue migrants that were crossing the Mediterranean, and it managed to save 17 people near the Libyan coast. After two weeks looking for a harbour, and after the Greek government denied permission to dock in the country’s shores, the government of Malta allowed for the rescued migrants to set foot on the island, but not for the ship to dock. The ship eventually got permission from the Spanish government to dock in the harbour of the city of Palma, in Mallorca, reaching the destination after having almost run out of fuel.
