3 women found murdered at the Turkey-Greece frontier
Three women, aged 15, 18-20 and 35, suspected to be a mother and her two daughters, have been found beheaded on the land border between Greece and Turkey. Two of them were tied by the feet and hands, and a knife was found near their bodies. One of the hypotheses on the table is that of “migrant hunters”, who often operate on the Bulgarian border. The number of entries across this border, at the Evros river pass, has doubled since 2017, as well as the number of deaths in the river due to drowning. According to UNHCR, in July 2017, 5.600 migrants were detained in that area, while a year later, in July 2018, the amount raised to about 9.000.
