2 kids die in the crossing from Morocco to Spain
After Italy took a tougher line on migration under Salvini, Morocco has become the main launchpad for Europe-bound migrants since July. In the early morning hours of 27 October, 465 migrants were rescued from 8 fishing boats by Spanish Maritime Safety Agency in the Strait of Gibraltar, as they were attempting to reach Spain from Morocco. Nonetheless, 2 seven-year-old kids drowned after the boat they were travelling in along with other 55 migrants had sunk. At the same time, a boat of about 20 Moroccan migrants also sank, and only 4 of them were found alive; 16 are still missing, and everything points to the fact that they drowned after their boat sank off the coast of Morocco’s northern city of Nador. All rescued migrants were transferred to ports near Cadiz and the wounded were hospitalised.
