11 persons arrested after clashes between protesters and police in Tunisia
11 persons have been arrested as a result of clashes between protesters and the security forces in the region of Sidi Bouzid, according to Tunisia’s interior ministry. Protests broke out in the town of Jelma on 30 November, a day after a young man, Abdelwaheb Hablani, set himself in fire in protest against poverty and living conditions. Hablani died in the hospital on 1 December. Khaled Hayouni, spokesperson for the interior ministry, informed that protesters blocked roads and attacked police throwing them stones, and that the police used tear gas to disperse them.
