Mission and objectives

The Netherlands Institute of International Relations ‘Clingendael’ is an independent think tank and diplomatic academy which enhances knowledge and opinion shaping on issues related to international affairs. As part of a vast global network, the Institute realises this objective through its research, training and consultancy for governments, civil society and the private sector.

The Institute’s work focuses on Strategic Foresight, Security, Conflict and Fragility, European Affairs, Migration and Sustainability. Clingendael publishes reports and policy briefs, holds numerous conferences and offers a wide spectrum of training programmes for professionals from all over the world. It also publishes the digital magazine Internationale Spectator.
