Carnegie Europe
Mission and objectives
Carnegie Europe is the Brussels research office of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a unique global network of policy research centers in Russia, China, Europe, the Middle East, India and the United States. The mission of the institute, dating back more than a century, is to advance the cause of peace through analysis and development of fresh policy ideas and direct engagement and collaboration with decision makers in government, business, and civil society. Working together, the centers bring the inestimable benefit of multiple national viewpoints to bilateral, regional, and global issues.
Carnegie Europe works to develop and promote a strategic foreign policy agenda for Europe through rigorous research and analysis, and to inform public and private debate by stimulating thinking on Europe’s global role and responsibilities.
Carnegie Europe´s strength derives from the synergies between its array of Europe-based scholars and its place within Carnegie’s global network in five geographic regions: Asia, Europe, the Middle East, Russia, and North America. Carnegie Europe´s researchers and scholars form a unique mix of veteran European policy-makers, researchers, academics, and journalists who provide a constant flow of analysis covering political, social, security and economic developments across Europe and the Mediterranean. Carnegie Europe has a proven track record as a source of accurate, objective information on international strategic issues for politicians and diplomats, foreign affairs analysts, international business, economists, and the military.
As a direct neighbor of Europe, the Middle East is one of the focus points of the center’s research. Carnegie Europe works to stimulate and inform debate about Europe’s role in the Middle East and advocates the need for concrete strategy.
