Workshop

Cooperation with Religious Institutions as a European Policy Tool

12 November 2018
The Polish Institute of International Affairs, Warsaw

The workshop examined the scope and impact of cooperation between European policy-making actors and religious institutions on preventing violent extremism, conflict resolution, integration and migration, as well as between religious institutions themselves, both in Europe and the MENA region, with the purpose to provide recommendations for a better European policy formulation.

The debate focused on three case studies, including the role of Muslim religious institutions in migration and integration policies in Germany, the cooperation between Al-Azhar and the Vatican, as well as the role and degree of influence exerted by religious institutions in the Maghreb.

The workshop was organised in the framework of EuroMeSCo ENI Project, co-funded by the European Commission and the IEMed.
