Towards a New Security Architecture in the Euro-Mediterranean

The 2016 EuroMeSCo General Assembly and Annual Conference took place at the Egmont Palace in Brussels on 13-15 April 2016. The event, co-organised with EGMONT - The Royal Institute for International Relations, gathered 150 recognised experts and policy-makers to debate the current security situation in the region and reflect on ingredients, formats, stakeholders and actions for a greater and more effective cooperation to address security challenges. The aim of the Conference was to contribute to the debate in the final stretch before the release of the EU Global Strategy.

Local Presentation "Migrant and Refugees. Impact and Future Policies"

On 22 March in Amman the Center for Strategic Studies organised a seminar to present the final results of the Working Group on "Migrants and Refugees: Impact and Future Policies. Case studies of Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, Italy, Spain and Greece". The seminar was held in the framework of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project, co-financed by the European Union and the European Institute of the Mediterranean.

Local Presentation "Terrorist Threat in the Euro-Mediterranean"

On March 2 in Cairo, the Al-Ahram Center for Political and Strategic Studies organised an event to present the final results of the EuroMeSCo Working Group “Terrorist Threat in the Euro-Mediterranean”. The event was organised in the framework of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project, co-financed by the European Union and the European Institute of the Mediterranean.

Local Presentation "Arab Youth Activism After the Arab Uprisings"

The Istituto Affari Internazionali held a seminar in Rome on 29 February to present the final results of the Working Group on "Youth Activism in the South and East Mediterranean Countries Since the Arab Uprisings: Challenges and Policy Options". The seminar was organised in the framework of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project, co-financed by the European Union and the European Institute of the Mediterranean.

Meeting of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project´s Consortium

The meeting of the EuroMeSCo ENI Project´s Consortium took place on the 9th December in Brussels. Members of the consortium and representatives of the European Commission discussed the topics of the Working Packages for the second year of the project, as well as the theme and location of the EuroMeSCo Annual Conference 2016. As a result of the meeting the three Working Packages to be developed in 2016 were approved:

 

Working Package 1: Transformation in Tunisia: the first Five Years, to be led by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs


Working Package 2: Future of Syria, to be led by Global Political Trends Centre

 

Working Package 3: Mapping Migration Challenges in the EU Transit and Destination Countries, to be led by the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade
