This paper analyses the substance of Western foreign policies in the field of democracy promotion and their local adaptation to the Middle-East, particularly with respect  to Jordan and the Palestinian Territories. It examines the possible link between these policies of democracy promotion and the overarching geopolitical designs aimed at stabilising the region.
