Workshop and Institutional visits
IEMed, FRIDE & Elcano
Barcelona & Madrid
The European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), in collaboration with EuroMeSCo, is implementing a programme to strengthen the capacities of think tanks and research institutes in the Mediterranean countries with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation. The programme comprises a series of institutional visits and a workshop jointly organised with FRIDE and Real Instituto Elcano.
Institutional visits will be aimed at sharing best practices and reinforcing the influence in policy-making of southern and Spanish Mediterranean think tanks. They will also include a series of visits to national and international institutions such as the Union for the Mediterranean. The workshop “Rethinking the role of think tanks in the Arab Spring and EU policies towards the Mediterranean” will be organised in Madrid on 14th December and will discuss the role of think tanks in policy formulation in light of recent regional transformations and provide policy recommendations to EU policy-makers. Advice will come mostly from Southern Mediterranean experts, who are best suited to interpret the needs of their own countries and populations and how EU policies should respond to them.
Attendance by invitation only.
