Seminar "Political Change in Tunisia and Impacts on the Mediterranean Region"

Dates: from 24/03/2011 to 25/03/2011
Place: Tunis

The seminar will analyse the perspectives of the democratising wave started in Tunisia and continued in Egypt and Libya and the repercussions in North Africa, the Middle East and Europe, not only in terms of domestic policy but also of a re-approach to Euro-Mediterranean relations and the open or latent armed conflicts in the region. Moreover, the degree of applicability in the southern Mediterranean of the different processes of transition to democracy experienced in Europe will be analysed.

This seminar forms part of a series of meetings of experts with the participation of the IEMed, as coordinator of the EuroMeSCo network, together with different Euro-Mediterranean research centres, following the democratising processes shaking different countries of the Mediterranean Arab world.

In collaboration with: Centre des Études Méditerranéennes et Internationales (CEMI), EuroMeSCo and Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS)
